Columbian Bachelor of Aeronautics Engineering Andres Villegas Ceballos chose Montr\u00e9al for his career in aerospace. Andres has a reason to be proud. As technical project manager in Montr\u00e9al, he works for a consulting firm serving prestigious aerospace clients such as Bombardier and Pratt & Whitney. And that is exactly what he was hoping for when he left Columbia, where opportunities for a person with his profile were scarce.<\/p>

\u201cIt was a dream to come to Montr\u00e9al, because it\u2019s one of just three cities in the world where you can build an airplane from scratch,\u201d he admits.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/section>\n\t\t\t\t

A road paved with discovery, resourcefulness and tenacity<\/h3>\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

Determined to try his chances, the young man set off first for an exploratory stay in the city. His goal at the time was \u201cto see whether I liked it and also study French for six months,\u201d he recalls.<\/p>

That unforgettable experience marked a turning point in his life. \u201cThe minute I got back home in 2019, I started my immigration process to Qu\u00e9bec and I applied to the Master\u2019s in Aerospace Engineering program at the \u00c9cole de technologie sup\u00e9rieure.\u201d<\/p>

Once accepted into the program, Andres came back to Montr\u00e9al to take his courses and got his first internship at a major airplane engine manufacturer. However, \u00a0he knew that he would have to have his experience and Bachelor\u2019s of Aeronautics Engineering from Columbia recognized in order to work as an engineer in Qu\u00e9bec and advance in his profession.<\/p>

\u201cI knew there was a process [with the Ordre des ing\u00e9nieurs], but I didn\u2019t know how important and valued it was here,\u201d he explains. \u201cAs I was doing my research, I found out online that Microcr\u00e9dit Montr\u00e9al had this loan program for applying to the Ordre.\u201d<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/section>\n\t\t\t\t

Andres quickly obtained financing through Microcr\u00e9dit Montr\u00e9al and is still astonished at the support he received. \u201cI gained access to resources for immigrants more easily,\u201d he adds.<\/p>

While awaiting permanent residency, Andres is counting on his future engineering credentials to access even better employment opportunities, especially in government projects. And perhaps to become an independent consultant in this field that inspires him so much.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/section>\n\t\t\t\t

\u201cWithout Microcr\u00e9dit Montr\u00e9al, it would have been more difficult for me to join the Ordre des ing\u00e9nieurs du Qu\u00e9bec,\u201d he concludes. \u201cFor me, the process is almost finished and I will soon have my title and my licence. The loan allowed me to jump forward a whole year in my career.\u201d<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/section>\n\t\t\t\t
